Watch NASA’s helicopter flying at Mars using old school 3d glasses

If you have a pair of red glasses, you now watch NASA’s ingenuity helicopters make one of his flights in 3D. NASA released edited videos into Anaglyph, meaning it is a stereoscopic video where a series of frames are equally processed and superimposed in two layers, one in red and one in cyan color, for use with glasses filtered with color.

NASA released a new 3D version of the video on Wednesday, explaining that the video showed the Third Flight of Ingenuity on Mars – which was captured by perseverance Rover, provided the opportunity to the public to witness this historic achievement. Content was captured using MastCam-Z Rover, which featured two zoomable cameras.

The arrest involves photographing a number of images from the order of the flight, which is then assembled together as a frame in the video. NASA explained that JPL’s imaging scientist Justin Maki worked with a team that sewed pictures and turned them to see as Anaglyph. Cyan red glasses need to see videos in 3d can be purchased online or easily made if you have the right inventory.

For those who want to go to DIY routes, assuming you have several Cyan Cellophane, NASA has a 3D glasses template available for download for free on its website. It only takes about 10 minutes to cut glasses on card stock and tapes or glue on a plastic filter.

Talking about that effort, Maki said:

Mastcam-z video capabilities are inherited from the Mars Science Mardi (Mars Descent Imager). To reuse this ability on a new mission by obtaining a 3D helicopter video that flew on the surface of Mars just spectacular … a helicopter that flew on Mars opened a new era for exploration. This is a big demonstration of new technology for exploration. With every flight we open more possibilities.
