Tyson Foods suspends executive John R. Tyson after DWI arrest in Arkansas
Tyson Foods has suspended its chief financial officer, John Randal Tyson, following his arrest early Thursday morning in Arkansas. He was charged with driving while intoxicated by the University of Arkansas Police Department around 1:30 a.m., according to jail records. Tyson, who is the great-grandson of the company’s founder, was released on a $1,105 bond after spending nine hours in custody.
In response to Tyson’s arrest, Tyson Foods issued a statement acknowledging the situation. The company stated it was aware of the “arrest for an alleged DWI” and announced that Tyson has been suspended from his duties effective immediately. Curt Calaway, a senior finance executive, has been appointed as interim Chief Financial Officer.
This is not Tyson’s first brush with the law. Previously, in November 2022, he was arrested for alleged public intoxication and trespassing. According to reports, Tyson entered a woman’s home and fell asleep in her bed. Police were called after the woman found Tyson asleep in one of the bedrooms. Authorities confirmed his identity through his driver’s license.
