Google Documents performance upgrades can damage the Chrome extension

There is a time point when the war between Google, Microsoft, and even Apple is only more than a suite productivity. While Microsoft Office may still be in power in the market, the Google Documents and their siblings have eats most of the pie, some of the gratings of the browser-based browser and the popularity of the surgering Chromebook. The age of the platform, however, may begin to show and Google provides an important increase that can, in turn, making third-party Chrome extensions for Google Docs to stop functioning properly.

Given the dependence on the internet and the web, Google naturally encourages web standards and more severe technology than some. For example, strong supporters of HTML-based content are different from those who need plugins such as flash. For Google Documents, it uses an HTML-based approach to display documents, which are now abandoned for canvas-based alternatives.

Canvas, which is still part of HTML standards, specifically designed for drawing and displaying things that go beyond text and images, for example, videos and diagrams. Google says that switching to a canvas-based approach will significantly improve the performance and consistency of the way Google Documents display documents, especially on various platforms. End users must not see changes in functionality, other than Docs feel faster, not unless they use multiple third-party chrome extensions.

Google warns that the extension can suddenly break if they will depend specifically about how Google DOC is structured with HTML. This may primarily apply to companies that develop internal chrome extensions specifically for their needs, in this case they need to update their software, which may not be a small business at all.

Fortunately, the migration of HTML-based canvas-based rendering will occur slowly over the next few months, giving the time of developing to adjust. Either Way, Google recommends that the developer use the Google Workspace framework to ensure the extension will work even when Google changes things like what is often done.
